Tips for your CV
Your CV is the most important part of your application. It should give us a strong impression of who you are, and should not exceed two A4 pages in length.
The main points and tasks with which you have been involved so far should “leap out” at us and instantly convince us that you are the person for us.
This is the information your CV should include:
- Personal details: Including your first and last names, and your maiden name if appropriate; your address, telephone number and email address; your date and place of birth, marital status and nationality.
- Application photo: A recent photo is the first personal impression of yourself.
- Education/training: What are your qualifications; when and where did you acquire them, and what were your final marks or grades?
This information should be listed chronologically. The most recent information should come first (further education/training, university, school, civil/military service/gap year).
- Professional stages: Time period, department and position, employer and location. Also give a brief summary of your tasks and responsibilities there.
Additional qualifications:
- Additional qualifications:Areas of responsibility, main tasks and specific projects; realistic language and computer skills, and details of any time spend abroad.
Don’t forget that a CV is an advertising tool. You are presenting yourself and your skills and abilities in it. Tailor your CV to suit the advertised position by including key words; do not use a standardised CV.
Only include documents and certificates/references that are relevant to the position in question.
